The band was originally called the Backlash Blues Band from the Nina Simone song, then changed the name to the Black Leb Blues Band. The photo was taken in the basement of what was The Congregational Church, Junction Road, London N19 around 1968. Other band members include, Ray Arigo, Chris Thomas and Nick Bradford. This was a touring band only and they released no official recordings. Paul and Milton were taken in by Bill after the collapse of Rebel, but the record label did not agree.

A raucous ensemble owing much influence towards the Magic Band though not as tightly rehearsed! The band often had to change names to get gigs.
